
Pelicans Out Pitch Wingnuts to Pick Up 3-1 Win

Pensacola Pelicans News Release
The Pensacola Pelicans (1-1) pitched their way to a 3-1 win over the Wichita Wingnuts (1-1) in front of a lively crowd of nearly 1,500 on hand for Family Night. Clegg Snipes scattered seven hits over seven and two thirds innings, allowing only one run in a solid outing to pick up his fifth win of the season.
With the score knotted up at zero, the Pelicans would strike first in the bottom half of the fifth inning. Ricardo Cordova would reach on fielders choice to second which put out Evan Conley on the play. Cordova stole second to put himself in scoring position. Dylan Parzyk then singled to right to score Cordova who was called safe at home on a bang- bang play at the plate, giving the Pelicans a 1-0 lead.
The Wingnuts struck right back in the top half of the sixth. Chris Colton who led off the inning, lined Clegg Snipes 1-0 pitched over the right field fence to tie the game up at one.
Brandon Sing added to his American Association homerun lead by blasting his 13th of the season in the bottom half of the sixth. Leading off the inning, Sing would take the second pitch he saw from Gustavo Mata deep over the center field fence to give the Pelicans a 2-1 lead.
The Pels would add one more insurance run in the seventh inning. Cordova led off the inning with a hard base hit right back up the middle. After stealing second, Cordova would score on a line drive base hit to center from Dallas Christison, increasing the Pels lead to two.
With the Wingnuts threatening in the eight, Pelicans' closer Dustin Cameron would come in and close the door and pick up his 13th save of the season.
Zach Cline will take the mound tomorrow night in the series finale against Wichita.
