Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release
MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Tuesday night's contest between the Myrtle Beach Pelicans and Lynchburg Hillcats at BB&T Coastal Field has been postponed due to rain. The two clubs will play a Wednesday night doubleheader consisting of two seven-inning games beginning at 6:05 p.m.
A downpour hit the area at around 3:00 this afternoon and it turned into a steady rain that continued to fall and forced the postponement at 7:21 p.m. Tomorrow's double-dip is the Birds' fifth of the year and their third at BB&T Coastal Field. Ironically, the other two home rainouts, April 26 against Potomac and May 10 against Kinston, were also on Tuesdays and became Wednesday twinbills.
Wednesday night will be a Wiener Wednesday at BB&T Coastal Field, and fans can now enjoy two games for the price of one. The scheduled starters for Tuesday night's game will pitch on Wednesday. Justin Grimm (2-2, 3.88) goes for the Pelicans against Lynchburg ace and 2010 Pelican Zeke Spruill (7-8, 3.06). Gates will open for the Wednesday twinbill at 5:30 p.m.
Tickets for the postponed game on Tuesday can be redeemed for admission to any 2011 regular season Pelicans game. Tickets for Wednesday's doubleheader and all other Pelicans home games can be purchased by visiting the BB&T Coastal Field Box office, the Tickets page at MyrtleBeachPelicans.com, or by calling (843)918-6000 or (877)918-TIXX.
