
Peacock Named Pitcher of the Year

Portland, ME The Eastern League of Professional Baseball is pleased to announce that Harrisburg Senators right-handed starting pitcher Brad Peacock has been selected as the 2011 Eastern League Pitcher of the Year. The 23-year old made 16 appearances for the Senators this season and posted a record of 10-2 with 129 strikeouts and a 2.01 ERA in 98.2 innings of work before receiving a promotion from Harrisburg to the Syracuse Chiefs of the Triple-A International League on July 14th. Brad has made eight starts as a member of the Chiefs and has a record of 4-1 with 41 strikeouts and a 3.56 ERA over 43 innings pitched. Peacock was leading the league in strikeouts (129), WHIP (0.86) and batting average against (.179) at the time of his promotion to Triple-A Syracuse. He was also tied for the league lead in wins (10) and ranked second in ERA (2.01). The Miami, Florida native was handed one of his two losses with the Senators in his first start of the season on April 11th against New Britain. He followed that up by earning the win in each of his next four starts and winning each of his next seven decisions for the Senators. Brad went on to allow three earned runs or less in all but one his 16 appearances with the Senators and surrendered just one earned run or less in 10 of those games.
In addition to winning this award the 6'1", 175 lb. hurler was also a two-time winner of the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week Award for the periods of April 18th-24th and May 9th-15th. He was also a participant in the 2011 Futures Game and pitched one shutout for the US Team and was a member of Western Division roster for the 2011 Northeast Dental Eastern League All-Star Game in Manchester, New Hampshire. In addition to those accolades Peacock was also chosen as the right-handed starting pitcher on the recently announced Eastern League All-Star Team and was rated by Baseball America as being the "Best Pitching Prospect" and having the "Best Control" in the Eastern League this season.
Brad, who entered the season rated by Baseball America as the 10th best prospect in the Washington organization, was selected by the Washington Nationals in the 41st round of the 2006 draft out of Palm Beach Central High School in Wellington, Florida.
Richmond left-handed starter Eric Surkamp finished second in the voting for the award and Harrisburg right-handed starter Erik Arnesen finished in third place. This award was voted on by Eastern League managers, writers, broadcast personnel and other members of the media.
