PawSox Walk off on Boesch's 11th-Inning Blast

Pawtucket, RI- Brennan Boesch's 11th-inning walk-off home run delivered the Pawtucket Red Sox their second straight come-from-behind victory over the Rochester Red Wings, a 4-2 triumph on Tuesday night at McCoy Stadium. With Christian Vazquez on second base and one out, Boesch hammered a 2-2 pitch against lefthander Sean Burnett (0-3) off a sign in the back of the Red Wings' bullpen. His second home run of the season sent the PawSox (53-51) to their season-high fifth straight home win. "You don't even get opportunities to get up in those situations a lot, so when you come through, whether it's a hit or a homer, it feels good," said Boesch. Before reaching extra innings, Pawtucket starter Henry Owens fanned a season high-tying nine batters but threw 100 pitches in his five innings of work. He walked a season low-tying two hitters and retired the final six hitters he faced. "He had some swing and miss weapons and better command overall," said manager Kevin Boles. "But he just burned through his pitch count and they worked deep counts on him." The only two runs Owens surrendered came across in the second inning. Owens walked Daniel Palka and allowed a Wilfredo Tovar double to left field that put two runners in scoring position with two outs. The next batter, Calors Paulino, lined an 0-2 changeup into centerfield for a two-run single that gave the Red Wings (60-45) a 2-0 lead. The PawSox grabbed a run back in the third inning with three straight one-out singles against Rochester starter Andrew Albers. Mike Miller, Rusney Castillo and Ryan LaMarre delivered the knocks. A great diving stop by the shortstop Tovar robbed Marco Hernandez and started a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning and prevent any further damage. Pawtucket tied the game with one out in the bottom of the seventh on back-to-back opposite field doubles from Boesch and Jantzen Witte. Tommy Field walked to lead off the next half inning for the Red Wings but was thrown out trying to advance to second base on a fly ball to the right field warning track. Henry Ramos unleashed a bullet to nail Field, allowing reliever Kyle Martin to face just three hitters in the frame. Martin tossed three hitless innings and Noe Ramirez (2-3) followed with three shutout innings and five strikeouts to claim the victory for the PawSox. Pawtucket improved to 5-5 in extra-inning contests this season. The PawSox continue their four-game series against the Red Wings tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. Pawtucket lefthander Robby Scott (3-3, 2.82) is scheduled to make the start against Rochester righty Jose Berrios (10-4, 2.31).
