Louisville Bats News Release
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Bats beat the Charlotte Knights, 4-3. Center fielder Scott Schebler hit for the cycle, the first for a Bats player since Chris Dickerson on July 26, 2007. Seth Mejias-Brean singled in the bottom of the 10th to give Louisville their ninth walkoff win of the season.
Major League rehabber, right-hander Tim Adleman (2-1, 3.60) pitched six innings, allowing six hits, two runs, one earned, one walk, and struck out two. Adleman threw 73 pitches, 48 strikes.
The Bats' left-hander Wandy Peralta (4-1, 2.66) earned the win, pitching two innings, allowing two hits, and one run. The Knights' Chris Beck (4-4, 4.23) gave up the game-winning hit in a losing effort, pitching two-thirds of an inning, allowing two hits, one run, and one walk.
The Bats started off early with an RBI triple by Schebler, scoring designated hitter Jermaine Curtis to give the Bats a 1-0 lead in the first.
The Knights soon tied up the game up at 1-1 with an RBI single by third baseman Danny Muno, scoring second baseman Jake Peters in the second.
Charlotte center fielder Adam Engel scored in the third off an error by Adleman to put the Knights up 2-1.
Louisville tied the game up 2-2 when Schebler hit a solo home run in the sixth. It was Schebler's team-leading 13th home run of the season and his 40th RBI. He's also the first Bats player to have a 5-hit game since Juan Silverio went 5-for-5 on June 17, 2014.
The Bats retook the lead in the eighth with an RBI double by Curtis to score Bryson Smith, who was pinch running for Raffy Lopez, to put the score at 3-2.
The Knights tied the game up 3-3 in the ninth with an RBI double by former Bat Jason Bourgeois.
In extra innings, Louisville third baseman Seth Mejias-Brean hit an RBI single to score Schebler for a Bats 4-3 win. The Bats improved to 9-4 in extra innings with the win.
The Bats will look to sweep the Knights tomorrow night. Left-hander John Lamb (1-2, 7.91) will take the mound for Louisville. Charlotte will oppose with left-hander, and former Louisville Bat, David Holmberg (0-1, 4.50) at 7:05 p.m. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
