Pawtucket Red Sox News Release

PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- The Pawtucket Red Sox hit four home runs, including a pair by Brandon Snyder, to slug their way past the Columbus Clippers, 5-1, before 7,339 on Monday at McCoy Stadium.

Overall, the PawSox collected 10 hits, including two apiece by five different players. Among them was Jose Iglesias, who evened the score following an unearned run for Columbus in the top of the 1st inning. With two out in the 2nd, Iglesias pulled a first-pitch fast ball to straight-away left field for a career-high third homer.

Pawtucket broke the tie two innings later with back-to-back jacks by Bryce Brentz, his fourth, and Snyder, his fourth as well, off the Clippers' spot starter, Toru Murata (L, 0-1). A day earlier, Brentz was one of three PawSox to belt back-to-back-to-back home runs.

Ahead 3-1, Brock Holt's sacrifice fly scored Brentz, who singled, in the bottom of the 6th inning. In the 8th, facing reliever Jerry Gil, Snyder connected again, tying him with Jeremy Hazelbaker for the club lead in homers (five). Snyder now has a team-high 17 RBI.

On the mound knuckleballer Steven Wright struggled with five walks in 4.0 innings, but stranded seven runners, while inducing a double play grounder. In all, Columbus left 11 and went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position.

Oscar Villareal (W, 4-2), Pedro Beato and Anthony Carter combined for 5.0 scoreless innings of three-hit relief.

The PawSox (15-10) will bid for the series win Tuesday at 12:05 p.m., as Rubby De La Rosa (0-0, 9.31) takes the mound against Carlos Carrasco (0-0, 0.00).
