Clippers Fall to Pawtucket 5-1

Columbus Clippers News Release
The Clippers had a hard time getting anything going with the bats as they fell 5-1 to the Pawtucket Red Sox at McCoy Stadium.
Originally, Trevor Bauer was supposed to get the start on the mound for the Clippers. Unfortunately, he was a late scratch for the game so Columbus opted to go with Japanese right-hander Toru Murata. The Clippers would get on the board first when Ryan Rohlinger scored from third on a passed ball by Pawtucket catcher Ryan Lavarnway in the top of the first.
Pawtucket would then get homer happy in the coming innings. The Red Sox tied it at 1-1 with a solo homer by Jose Iglesias in the bottom of the second. Bryce Brentz then gave the PawSox a 2-1 lead with solo shot of his own in the bottom of the fourth. It became a 3-1 game when the next batter of the inning, Brandon Snyder, also left the yard with solo bomb.
Brock Holt later added an RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth. Snyder also went deep again with another solo shot in the bottom of the eighth. On a night where the Pawtucket offense was firing on all cylinders, the Clippers offense sputtered, totaling ten strikeouts while leaving eleven runners on base. Oscar Villareal (W, 4-2) was awarded the victory for Pawtucket. Murata (L, 0-1) took the loss for Columbus.
The Clippers conclude their four game series with Pawtucket on Tuesday afternoon. Columbus will send righty Carlos Carrasco (0-0, 0.00) to the mound. Pawtucket will counter with right-hander Rubby De La Rosa (0-0, 9.31). First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 PM.
