Pawtucket Red Sox News Release

It was an interesting night at Indianapolis' Victory Field as the PawSox throttled the Indians 12-3 in front of 14,481 fans. Pawtucket scored 4 times in the second inning on an RBI single by Nate Spears, a run scoring double by Brent Dlugach and a two run single off the bat of Che-Hsuan Lin. The PawSox got a single run in the fifth as Daniel Nava doubled home Lin. In the eighth, The PawSox scored five times on two hits and 4 walks. The big blow was a three run double by Lin. The centerfielder was 3-5 with 5 RBI. The PawSox were denied another run in the fourth inning. Ryan Lavarnway hit a ball off the right field foul pole. Lavarnway thought it was a home run and continued to run the base paths and was thrown out at third base. Instant replay clearly showed the ball was a home run, yet all three umpires missed the call. An inning later, Manager Arnie Beyeler and shortstop Yamaico Navarro were ejected from the game. Navarro, for arguing a called strike three, and Beyeler, for coming to his defense. Beyeler, ejected for the first time this season erupted after the previous innings' botched call.

Kyle Weiland started and earned the win with another solid outing. Weiland (6-6) allowed 2 runs on three hits. Hideki Okajima pitched two perfect innings with one strikeout and Blake Maxwell pitched the final two innings for Pawtucket, allowing a run.

The PawSox (39-34) have won four of the first five games of the current road trip. The series continues on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Matt Fox (4-2, 3.27) faces lefty Garrett Olsen (1-0, 1.61).
