New Jersey Jackals News Release
Little Falls, NJ - Isaac Pavlik turned in his longest outing of the season and catcher Javon Rosa went 2-for-4 with a home run as the New Jersey Jackals downed the Brockton Rox 4-2 on Saturday night at Yogi Berra Stadium to end the first half of the Can-Am League season with back-to-back wins.
Pavlik (4-3) allowed just one run on six hits in 6 2/3 innings in the win. Dan Griffin also chipped in with 1 1/3 frames of perfect relief.
New Jersey opened up the scoring in the bottom of the second when shortstop Mike DeJesus ripped a one-out double to right before Rosa unleashed his first home run of the season to center field to make it a 2-0 contest.
Brockton used a two-out RBI single by right fielder Keith Brachold to get on the board at 2-1 in the top of the third, but New Jersey added a run in the fifth on a Jabe Bergeron RBI single and one more in the sixth when third baseman Mike Scanzano lifted a sacrifice fly to make it 4-1.
Brockton plated a run in the top of the ninth against closer Romas Hicks and advanced the tying run to second, but Hicks escaped the jam to notch his league-leading 12th save of the season.
Brockton right-hander Freddy Flores took the loss after allowing four runs on nine hits in six innings.
