Lynchburg Hillcats News Release

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Dorssys Paulino became the third consecutive Hillcat to claim the distinction of Carolina League Player of the Week after Clint Frazier and Ivan Castillo earned the honor each of the past two weeks. It marks the first time the Hillcats have won three straight Carolina League Players of the Week since 1995 when Jay Knoblauh received the award on July 16 and Reed Secrist took home the honor back-to-back weeks on July 23 and July 30.

With the recent run of awards, Lynchburg has tied a Hillcat-era record by winning six Carolina League Player of the Week awards, which the Hillcats also achieved in the first season of the Hillcats era, 1995. When combined with the three Carolina League Pitcher of the Week distinctions, Lynchburg has garnered nine weekly league awards this season, which is one shy of the Hillcat-era benchmark of 10 set in 1995.

Paulino earned the nod by batting .455 for the week of July 27 through August 2 with an on-base percentage of .500 and a slugging percentage of .773 to combine for an OPS of 1.273. Specifically, Paulino went 10-for-27 with two doubles, a triple, a home run, four RBIs, five runs scored and a stolen base.

Paulino joined the Hillcats on July 15 after leading Low-A Lake County with 39 RBIs at the time of his promotion. Since becoming a member of the Lynchburg roster, he has hit .338 with a .405 on-base percentage and a .585 slugging percentage for a .990 OPS. He has three home runs and 13 RBIs in 19 games with the Hillcats.

Lynchburg opens a six-game homestand Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Mitch Brown (7-9, 5.32), who has won five consecutive starts, will be on the mound for Lynchburg against Matthew Spann (0-6, 4.87). The Hillcats On-Deck Show begins at 6:10 p.m. on ESPN Radio 93.3 FM/1320 AM and www.lynchburg-hillcats.com.
