Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - Red Patterson gave the Quakes eight strong innings and Logan Bawcom fired a scoreless ninth, as the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes rallied for a 3-2 win over the Modesto Nuts, snapping a three-game losing streak.

Rafael Ynoa's sac fly broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the seventh inning, as the Quakes opened their four-game home stand at The Epicenter by snapping Modesto's six-game winning streak.

Patterson was solid throughout his eight innings, but the Quakes trailed 2-1 heading to the bottom of the seventh.

Modesto starter Dan Perkins was just as sharp, limiting the Quakes to just one run over his first six innings. But in the seventh, Tony Delmonico opened the inning with a double, putting the tying run in scoring position for Wilberto Ortiz.

Modesto elected to go to the bullpen, calling on Kurt Yacko, who would end up making a costly decision. Ortiz laid down a bunt on the third-base side of the mound. Yacko (1-4) picked up the ball and threw to third base, where Delmonico was easily safe. The throw across the diamond was late as well, putting runners at first and third with no outs. J.T. Wise would bunt a ball up the first-base line, scoring Delmonico to even the game at 2-2. Ramon Jean followed with a single to move Ortiz to third. Ynoa followed with an important sac fly to center field, plating Ortiz with what turned out to be the winning run.

Patterson (2-1), who allowed two runs on just six hits over eight innings, worked a 1-2-3 eighth, turning it over to Bawcom in the ninth.

The lead-off man in the ninth reached on a Jake Lemmerman throwing error, but was stranded at first base, as Bawcom mowed down the next three hitters, including the last two via strikeout to preserve the win and earn his sixth save.

The Quaked tallied a first-inning run against Perkins, when Angelo Songco's two-out double brought home Nick Buss for a 1-0 lead.

Modesto tied it in the fourth and took the lead with a run in the sixth, as David Christensen's sac fly made it a 2-1 game.

With the win, Rancho (22-17, 60-49) is still two games behind Lake Elsinore in the Second Half South Division Standings. The Quakes will send Andres Santiago (6-3) to the mound against Modesto lefty Edwar Cabrera (3-0) on Thursday night.

Thursday night is another Buffalo Wild Wings Thirsty Thursday, with $2 domestic 16-oz drafts and $2 20-oz Coca-Cola Products. In addition, CornNuts are also just $2, thanks to Buffalo Wild Wings and Q 104.7. Game time is 7:05pm and tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com.
