Inland Empire 66ers News Release
Lancaster, CA- A total of four Inland Empire errors resulted in five unearned runs for the Lancaster JetHawks (42-67, 14-25) who rode the extra tallies to an 11-6 victory over the 66ers (51-57, 19-19).
In Inland Empire's first matchup with their southern division rivals since the All-Star break the 66ers the Lancaster JetHawks were able to jump on the board early with a three run home run by David Flores on the way to a 7-1 JetHawks lead by the end of the third inning.
That's when the 66ers began their comeback. Trailing by six, Inland Empire used David Harris' first home run of his California League career and another homer two batters later by Jon Karcich to get to a two run defecit. In 2011 the 66ers are undefeated when scoring five or more runs in an inning, but this rally was good for only four runs in the frame.
Lancaster later recouped the four runs in the sixth inning when a four base error by the 66ers sparked the JetHawks run. Inland Empire reliever Ryan Chaffee came in for two plus innings of scoreless relief in an attempt to give the 66ers a shot at a comeback, but all Inland Empire could must down the stretch was a solo home run by Jose Jimenez.
The 66ers will try to even the series Thursday night at Lancaster. The first pitch is set for 7:00 pm and the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians pre-game show begins at 6:50 pm on AM 1050 KCAA.
