Week In Review:

Wednesday November 12th Regina Pats 2 vs. Calgary Hitmen 6

It was a battle of first in the East Division (Pats) and first in the Central Division (Hitmen) that saw why the Hitmen were one of the top ranked teams in the CHL. Pats defenceman Victor Bartley kicked off the scoring in the first off of Calgary turnover, he wired top shelf on Michael Snider. Brandon Kozun tied it on the power play just over a minute later, but the Pats later took the lead with a Michael MacAngus power play marker of his own. From there, it was all Calgary as they scored five straight goals and cruised to a 6-2 win.

Friday November 14th Regina Pats 3 vs. Seattle Thunderbirds 5

The Seattle Thunderbirds made their only visit to the 'Dome this season, and it was 2007 first round pick Thomas Hickey that put on a show. He scored twice, including a beauty on a back-hander, helping his T-Birds to a 5-3 win over the Pats. Scoring for the blue and white in the loss were Jordan Eberle, Michael MacAngus and Brett Leffler while Damien Ketlo was tagged with his second loss of the season.

Saturday November 15th Regina Pats 2 @ Prince Albert Raiders 1

The Pats turned the week around with a solid 60 minute performance at the Art Hauser Centre in Prince Albert, coming away with a 2-1 win. Brett Leffler opened the scoring in the first with his 11th of the season, only to have Justin Bernhardt tie it in the second on the power play. The Pats took the lead for good in the third on Jordan Eberle's 17th of the season. After giving up almost 90 shots in their previous two games, the Pats tightened up defensively and held P.A. to just 23 as Linden Rowat stopped all but on for his 9th win of the season.

Injury Report:

There are no current injuries to report.

The Pats have lost 46 man games due to injury.

ADT Canada/Russia Challenge:

Colten Teubert and Jordan Eberle have been named to play for Team WHL in the upcoming ADT Canada/Russia Challenge on Wednesday, November 26th in Swift Current and Thursday, November 27th in Prince Albert.

Off to the U-17 Challenge:

Two current Pats and a Pat prospect have been named to their perspective regions for the upcoming U-17 World Hockey Challenge in Alberni, B.C. in December. Forward Dominick Favreau and current Pat Canadian goaltender will put on the Team West jersey while forward Jordan Weal will take the ice for Team Pacific.

Defence is key:

In the Pats two losses this week, they were outshot 89-50, while being outscored 11-5. In Prince Albert, the Pats outshot the Raiders 37-23, and their effort made a difference on the scoreboard with a 2-1 win.

Some Separation in the Eastern Conference:

After quite a logjam over the past few weeks, there is beginning to be some separation in the Eastern Conference. The Calgary Hitmen are running away with things with 43 points, the Saskatoon Blades are in with 35, the Pats have 32, while Medicine Hat has 31. On the outside looking in currently are the Oil Kings (22 points), Hurricanes and Rebels (21 points).

Rowat climbing the standings:

After a slow start out of the gate, goaltender Linden Rowat is now in the WHL's top ten in goals against average (T8th 2.60), save percentage (T8th .907) and wins (T10 - 8).

One and done:

Wednesday's game with the Spokane Chiefs at the 'Dome will be the last time fans will be able to watch their Regina Pats for three weeks, as the blue and white make way for Agribition. The road trip begins with a two night jaunt to Swift Current and Medicine Hat, followed the next week with a trek through the B.C. division. The Pats will return home on December 12th as they host their Eastern Division rivals, the Brandon Wheat Kings.

This Week:

Wednesday, November 19th Spokane Chiefs @ Regina Pats

The defending Memorial Cup champions, the Spokane Chiefs will make their lone appearance to the 'Dome. They are currently the top team in eh U.S. Division and in the CHL top ten and are lead by strong defensive corps of Jared Cowen, Stefan Ulmer and Trevor Glass as well as the top goaltender in the CHL, Dustin Tokarski.

Friday, November 21st Regina Pats @ Swift Current

It's a huge weekend for the blue and white with dates against a pair of teams' right on the Pats tail in the Eastern Conference race. Friday night, it begins in Swift Current as the two play for the second time this season, the first coming on November 8th, where the Pats cruised to a 5-1 win at the 'Dome.

Saturday, November 21st Regina Pats @ Medicine Hat

The Pats will travel to one of the toughest rinks in all of western Canada on Saturday in the Medicine Hat Arena to face the Tigers. This will be their third of four meetings of the season, with the Tiger winning at home on October 18th (6-3) and the Pats winning at the 'Dome on November 7th (4-2).
