Pats End 10 Game Road Swing Today in Prince Albert

Regina, Sask. - The Regina Pats finish their stretch of 10 games away from the Brandt Centre on Friday against the Prince Albert Raiders at 7:00 p.m. at the Art Hauser Centre.

The Pats are coming off a 8-2 victory over the Edmonton Oil Kings on Sunday at Rogers Place, ending their Western Canada road trip 5-1. Connor Bedard played his final game with the Pats before Canada's World Junior' selection camp and totaled five points (1G-4A). Tanner Howe recorded a four point effort (1G-3A), Alexander Suzdalev tallied three points (1G-2A), Borya Valis had three points (2G-1A) and Easton Armstrong scored his first career hat-trick. Drew Sim earned his fourth straight win, allowing two goals on 25 shots. The final shots were 37-25 for the Pats. Regina was 2-5 on their power play while going 0-0 on the penalty kill.

Meanwhile, the Prince Albert Raiders are coming off a 4-3 loss to the Brandon Wheat Kings on Wednesday at home for their third straight loss. Niall Crocker, Gabe Ludwig and Harrison Lodewyk scored for the Raiders in the defeat. The shots were 29-28 for Brandon. The Raiders were 0-6 on their power play and 1-5 on their penalty kill.

The Raiders are now have now dropped four of their last five contests after they had their four game winning-streak come to an end on November 26 in Red Deer with a 6-1 loss to the Rebels. In the 2021-22, they finished eighth in the Eastern Conference, going 28-35-4-1 with 61 points.

It's the second of six meetings between the Pats and Raiders this season. Regina and Prince Albert first met on October 12 at the Brandt Centre, with Regina coming away with a 3-0 win thanks to a 22-save shutout from Drew Sim who recorded his first shutout in a Pats uniform. Tanner Howe (1G-1A), Easton Armstrong and Tye Spencer had goals for the Pats while Connor Bedard tallied two assists and 11 shots. The final shots were 30-22 for Regina. The Pats went 0-3 on their power play and 4-4 on the penalty kill.

Last year, Regina went 6-2 against the Raiders in the season series over eight meetings, going 4-0 at home and 2-2 on the road...the Pats are 12-13 overall over the last 25 meetings over the course of the last six seasons.

HEADLINES

The Regina Pats concluded their six game, 13 day Western Canada road swing on Sunday in Edmonton with an 8-2 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings, ending the trip 5-1-0-0, outscoring their opponents 32-to-22, with a +10 goal differential during that time. The Pats picked up wins over Vancouver (3-0), Victoria (9-5), Kelowna (OT, 6-5), Prince George (5-1) and Edmonton (8-2).

Connor Bedard leaves the Pats for Canada's WJC selection camp with a 27 game point-streak. He is expected to miss between 10 and 12 Pats games as he looks for his second straight gold medal. He is one of 10 players attending Canada's camp who won gold in August.

The Pats host their 26th all-time Teddy Bear Toss game at the Brandt Centre on Saturday, Dec. 10 against the Calgary Hitmen. Tanner Howe scored last year's Teddy Bear Toss goal, becoming the youngest player in team history to do so (16 years, one month, 12 days).

The Pats have recalled goaltender Kelton Pyne from the Melville Millionaires of the SJHL. Zackary Shantz is now out indefinitely with an upper-body injury.

MILESTONES

Tonight will be Tanner Howe's 100th WHL game, and it's only fitting that it comes in his hometown.

64: Number of points (27G-37A) in 28 games for Pats captain Connor Bedard leads the WHL...his 27 goals are first, and his 37 assists are also first...the North Vancouver, BC product also leads the WHL in goals per-game (0.96), shots (175) and power play points (25).

30.2: Shooting percentage for Alexander Suzdalev is second in the WHL (16-for-53)...the Washington Capitals 2021 third-round pick is riding a four game point-streak (3G-3A), and has points in 13 of his last 14 games (10G-16A-26PTS)...his 11 PPG are second in the WHL.

40: Points this season for forward Tanner Howe is fifth in the WHL, while his 18 goals are tied for fourth and his shooting percentage (18-for-62) is third best in the league...he is currently on a six game point-streak (8G-6A-14PTS), and has scored in two straight.

8: Eight game point-streak (2G-16A-18PTS) for Stanislav Svozil heading into tonight's action...the Columbus Blue Jackets 2021 third-round pick is second amongst all WHL defencemen in points with 34 (4G-30A) while first in assists...he is also second amongst all skaters in assists.

26: Power play goals for the Pats over their last 16 contests dating back to Oct. 26, as the club has scored a PPG in 16 straight games (26-for-71, 36.6%)....prior to this stretch, the Pats power play was 19th in thw WHL at 14.9%...now the Pats power play is third in the WHL at 28.0%.
