Pats Claim Overage Defenceman Haynes off Waivers

Regina, Sask. - The Regina Pats have claimed 2003-born defenceman Carson Haynes off waivers from the Vancouver Giants. In a corresponding move, the club has placed 2003-born forward Zack Stringer on 20-year-old waivers.

Haynes, 20, played four games with the Giants this season, recording two assists and a +1 plus-minus rating. The Taber, Alta. product has played in 102 career WHL games split between the Tri-City Americans and Giants, tallying 26 points (4G-22A). The 6-foot-3, 190 lb. left-shot defenceman was previously drafted by the Americans in the third round, 58th overall, back in the 2018 WHL Prospects Draft. Last season with the Giants, Haynes totaled 15 points (3G-12A) in 50 games, as well as a +5 plus-minus rating.

Stringer, 20, tallied two points (1G-1A) in six games with the Pats this season. The Lethbridge, Alta. product has recorded 88 points (33G-55A) in 143 games split between the Pats and Lethbridge Hurricanes over parts of five seasons in the WHL. The 6-foot-1, 160 lb. left-shot winger played a big part in the Pats playoffs last year, recording four points (3G-1A) in seven games, including the overtime winner in game two.
