
Patriots Triple up Revolution 6-2 in First Game of Series

York, PA - The Somerset Patriots (31-33) defeated the York Revolution (33-31) 6-2 Monday night from Sovereign Bank Stadium in the first game of this three game midweek series.
The Patriots scored first as they took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Third baseman Dan DeGeorge tripled and later scored on a throwing error by Revolution catcher Travis Scott.
The Patriots scored again in the top of the fifth frame as center fielder Joe Holden chopped a RBI single up the middle to give the Patriots a 2-0 advantage.
The Revolution scratched across a run in the home half of the sixth inning. Second baseman Andres Perez hit a RBI fielder's choice to make the score 2-1 in favor of the Patriots.
In the top of the seventh inning the Patriots responded with two runs. Second baseman Dan Hennigan collected an RBI on a bunt attempt and designated hitter Freddie Bynum hit a RBI single through the right side to give the Patriots a comfortable 4-1 lead.
The Patriots added two more insurance runs in the eighth inning. Shortstop Yunesky Sanchez clubbed a RBI triple and catcher Adam Donachie had a RBI sacrifice fly to center field as the Patriots expanded their lead to 6-1.
The Revolution would score in the bottom of the eighth inning on a RBI double by Perez as the Patriots led 6-2 which would be the final.
Justin Cassel earned his second win of the season as he hurled six innings allowing one run. Chris Cody suffered his eighth loss of the year as he tossed seven innings and allowed six runs.
The 2012 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Friday, July 13th when the Patriots return to TD Bank Ballpark to take on the Camden Riversharks at 7:05 p.m. The game features a Post-Game Fireworks Show presented by Carrier Clinic.
