
Patriots Move into First Place Tie with 5-2 Win over Ducks

Bridgewater, NJ - The Somerset Patriots (31-19) defeated the Long Island Ducks (31-19) 5-2 at TD Bank Ballpark on Tuesday evening. With the win, the Patriots have moved into a first place tie with the Ducks in the Liberty Division.
The Patriots took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning on a solo home run by Michael Crouse (4).
Somerset then tacked on three runs in the next inning. Will Kengor plated one with a double and Alfredo Rodriguez followed with a two-run single for a 4-0 advantage.
Edwin Espinal added an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth inning that made the score 5-0.
The Ducks rallied to get on the board in the top of the eighth inning on a two-run double by Ramon Cabrera that cut the lead to 5-2, which would end up being the final.
Brett Oberholtzer (4-1) gave up two runs on four hits and five strikeouts in 7.2 innings pitched for the win.
"I just try to go out there and compete the best I can," said Oberholtzer. "My defense made some great plays behind me and that's all you can really ask for."
Jake Fisher (3-6) allowed five runs - four earned- on six hits in five innings pitched in a losing effort.
Mike Antonini came in for the ninth and earned his league-best 20th save of the season.
