Patriots Explode 14-1 Over Bluefish

Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots defeated the Bridgeport Bluefish 14-1 before 6,181 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday evening.
The Patriots rallied to score a season high seven runs in the bottom of the third inning. RBI base hits by Josh Pressley, John Pachot, Dan DeGeorge, and Joe Holden led the way for Somerset to give them a 7-0 lead.
The Patriots added another run the following inning after Pachot hit into a double play that scored Nettles for the 8-0 advantage.
Bridgeport got on the board with a run in the fifth inning on a solo homerun by Andres Perez (12).
Somerset tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the seventh after Pachot came home from third to score on an error by Perez and DeGeorge was forced in on a walk for the 10-1 lead.
The Patriots scored in the bottom of the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Pachot, a bases loaded walk, and an RBI double by Fernando Cortez for the 14-1 final.
Patriots reliever Casey Cahill (2-1) got the win after allowing a run on two hits in 2.2 innings pitched. Bluefish starter Esteban Yan (0-3) suffered the loss, allowing seven runs in 2.2 innings of work.
The 2011 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue on Sunday night when the Patriots take on the Bluefish in a double header beginning at 5:05 pm.
