Patriots blank Blue Crabs

WALDORF, Md. - The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs took on the Somerset Patriots in the second of their four-game series Saturday night in front of a packed house at Regency Furniture Stadium. After falling in the series opener Friday night, the Crabs called upon left-handed pitcher Wade Korpi to get the Crabs back on track. Looking to build off of their impressive victory Friday night, the Patriots countered with a lefty of their own in Roy Merritt. The Crabs offense wasn't able to put together enough offense to take down the Patriots as they fell to a final of 6-0

After striking for a run in the first inning, the Patriots offense got back to work in the next inning, After three straight singles loaded the bases to start the inning, right fielder, Cory Aldridge laced a single to centerfield to score two Patriots runners. It was all the runs that starter, Roy Merritt, would need as he stifled the Blue Crabs bats for most of the evening en route to the 6-0 victory.
