Sugar Land Space Cowboys News Release

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - The Sugar Land Skeeters lost their third straight game on Tuesday night, falling to the Somerset Patriots 10-5. The Skeeters have lost ten of their last eleven games, moving them to 32-27 in the second half. The club is now deadlocked with York Revolution for 1st place in the Freedom Division.

Will Oliver earned his 5th win of the season after six innings of work, giving up five runs on nine hits with five strikeouts and three walks. Jake Hale took the bump for the Skeeters as Sean Gleason was a late scratch from his second start of the season. Hale only went three innings, giving up three runs on four hits with a walk. Gleason came on in relief and took his 2nd loss of the season after giving up six runs on nine hits with two walks in only two innings of work.

Travis Scott gave the Skeeters an early 3-0 lead with a three-run blast in the top of the 1st. The Patriots came charging back as Vinny Zarrillo's three-run homer in the 3rd tied the game back up at 3-3. Somerset combined for six runs in the 4th and 5th inning to take a 9-3 lead. Patrick Palmeiro's solo homer and Rene Tosoni's RBI single in the 6th would cut the deficit to 9-5, but it wouldn't be enough to outlast the Patriots.

The Skeeters will complete their series against the Patriots tomorrow night at 5:35 p.m. CST. LHP Aaron Thompson (8-5, 3.93 ERA) will face off against LHP Nik Turley (4-1, 2.75 ERA). Purchase your tickets by calling the Skeeters box office at 281-240-4487 or visit sugarlandskeeters.com.
