Sugar Land Space Cowboys News Release

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - The Sugar Land Skeeters dropped their second straight game in a 7-6 loss to the Somerset Patriots on Monday night. The Skeeters have lost nine of their last ten games and are now 32-26 in the second half with a one game lead over York Revolution in the Freedom Division.

David Vidal opened up the scoring in the 2nd with a solo shot off Michael Nix that gave the Patriots a 1-0 lead. Jeremy Barfield belted a grand-slam in the top of the 3rd to put the Skeeters back on top 4-1. Barfield's long ball was his 21st of the season which ties him with Koby Clemens for the Skeeters single-season record.

From the 4th inning on, the Patriots scored a single run in five consecutive innings which led to a 6-4 lead. Part of that stretch included another solo homer from David Vidal in the 5th. The Skeeters tied it back up in the 9th on Rene Tosoni's two-run triple that scored Albert Cordero and Johan Limonta. Tosoni's triple became his 8th of the season and ties him with Ryan Langerhans for most by a Skeeter in a single-season.

The Skeeters couldn't get the job done in extras as Eric Farris' single off of Zech Zinicola in the 12th gave the Patriots a 7-6 walk-off victory.
