Patriots Announce Return Of Brian Adams

Bridgewater, NJ - The Four-Time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots have announced the re-signing of left-handed pitcher Brian Adams.

Adams finished the 2008 season with an 11-7 record, a 4.92 ERA, and 90 strikeouts in 135.1 innings pitched in 26 games. His 11 wins was the team high last season.

Adams was named the 2007 Atlantic League Pitcher of the Year for his 15-2 record, 3.68 ERA, and 117 strikeouts in 156 innings pitched. The 15 wins are a Somerset Patriots team record for a single season.

He was undefeated at TD Bank Ballpark in 2007, going 11-0 with a 2.52 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 93 innings pitched in 15 games.

Adams was only the second Patriots pitcher to receive the Pitcher of the Year honors, joining Justin Jensen, who received the award in 1999. He is just nine wins shy of setting a new Patriots career wins record held by Jensen at 35.

Brian is part of the Patriots family and we look for him to be at the top of our rotation once again," said Patrick McVerry, President/ General Manager of the Somerset Patriots Baseball Club.

Adams has experience in the Boston Red Sox and Milwaukee Brewers organizations, including four seasons at the Double-A level.

He has a minor league career record of 49-29 with a 3.63 ERA, 30 saves, and 533 strikeouts in 738.2 innings in 298 games pitched.
