Milwaukee Wave News Release
MILWAUKEE (April 25, 2005) â The Milwaukee Wave and the Major Indoor Soccer League announced today that for the first time this season, defender Pat White (No. 10) was named defensive player of the week. White is originally from Milwaukee and is in his 10th season with the Wave.
White's award comes after a successful weekend versus the Cleveland Force (Saturday, April 23) and Balitmore Blast (Sunday, April 24). Three blocks on Saturday combined with a goal and five blocks in Milwaukee's 11-8 win over Baltimore on Sunday caught the attention of the league. The 30-year-old, already the Wave's all-time leader in blocks, recorded the momentous 450th rejection of his career in the game. White finished the season with 11 points (seven goals, four assists) and 50 blocks (second on the team, fifth in the league). White becomes the third Wave player to be named Defensive Player of the Week this season, joining Troy Dusosky and Chris Morman.
* Goalkeeper of the week is Peter Pappas (Philadelphia KiXX), and offensive player of the week is Adauto Neto (Cleveland Force).
The Milwaukee Wave clinched as the 2004-05 MISL Regular Season Champions and now heads into the postseason for the semifinal round of playoffs. The first semifinal game is on road versus the St. Louis Steamers at the Savvis Center. The second game is at home at the U.S. Cellular Arena on May 1 at 1 p.m. This game determines who moves on to the 2005 MISL Championship Series Finals. If the teams split the semifinals series, a "golden goal" overtime period will determine the winner.
