Force forward takes MISL weekly honor for second straight week

CLEVELAND, OHIO- Cleveland Force forward Adauto Neto was selected as the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL Offensive Player of the for the seven-day period ending April 24. Cleveland has now received a Player of the Week selection in four of the last seven weeks and 13 times throughout the season.

Neto takes home his second straight MISL Offensive Player of the Week honor after recording three goals, including two game-winners, as Cleveland wrapped up the league's second playoff seed with weekend wins over Baltimore (7-6 in overtime on Friday) and Milwaukee (6-4 on Saturday). The 24-year-old scored 1:08 into overtime to down the Blast, and notched the game-winner at the 16-second mark of the fourth quarter against the Wave. Much like his team, the second-year striker finished the regular season on a high note, with goals in each of his last seven games (11 goals, 12 points total). Neto scored 21 goals and 31 points in 25 games in 2004-05.

Adauto joins forward and team captain John Ball, defender Neil Gilbert, defender Matt Johnson, goalkeeper Jim Larkin, defender Genoni Martinez and forward Aaron Susi as the other Force players honored by the MISL this season. Ball has been named Offensive Player of the Week on two occasions while Gilbert was named Defensive Player of the Week on April 11. Johnson garnered the Defensive Player of the Week on February 7 and Larkin has been tabbed as Goalkeeper of the Week on four occasions. Martinez has been honored as Defensive Player of the Week twice while Susi took home Offensive Player of the Week on April 11.

The Force will take on the third seeded Philadelphia KiXX this coming weekend in the two-game MISL Semi-Final series. The dates and times of the two games have yet to be determined.
