South Carolina Stingrays News Release
NORTH CHARLESTON, SC-South Carolina Stingrays Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that center Brad Parsons and defenseman Craig Olynick have agreed to terms with the team for the upcoming season. The Rays now have five players inked for their 13th season of professional hockey in the Lowcountry.
Parsons will enter his second season with the Stingrays after finishing last year with 50 points on 13 goals and 37 assists in 63 games with the club. The Princeton graduate played his first two professional seasons with the Portland Pirates and spent another three games in the AHL with the same team last year. The 6-0 ft- 200lb forward is a native of Kingston, Massachusetts. Parsons had a goal and three assists in four playoff games with the Rays last season.
"Brad was a big part of our team last season," commented Fitzsimmons. "He is a smart player that shows up every night and plays at both ends of the ice in all situations."
Craig Olynick came to the Stingrays last year in a trade with the Toledo Storm for Doug Andress. Olynick saw time in 39 games with South Carolina and had 14 points on a goal and 13 assists while racking up 115 penalty minutes.
"Craig is a young defenseman that makes things tough for the opposition," explained Fitzsimmons. "He plays an intense, hard nosed style that is always welcome on the blue line."
