
Neilson Back for Third Season With Ice Pilots

Pensacola, FL - The 2004-2005 Brabham Cup Champion Pensacola Ice Pilots announced that defenseman Corey Neilson has re-signed with the Ice Pilots for the 2005-2006 season.
Neilson, who stands 6'5" and weighs 230 pounds, played in 71 games for the Ice Pilots last season scoring 18 goals, 44 assists for 62 points and picked up 79 penalty minutes. He was the top scoring defenseman in the ECHL for the second straight season and also led all defenseman in goals (18), assists (44), power play goals (10), game winning goals (5), tied for first among defenseman with 33 power play points and was second in shots (247) and power play assists (23).
Neilson represented the Ice Pilots for the second straight year in the ECHL All-Star game and was named the American Conference Captain. He ! was also named Second Team All ECHL.
Neilson played in all 72 games for the Ice Pilots during the 2003-2004 season leading the Ice Pilots in scoring with 78 points and 59 assists while scoring 19 goals. He was named the ECHL 2003-2004 Defenseman of the Year and was named First Team All-ECHL.
This season will be Neilson's fourth year playing for Ice Pilots Head Coach Dave Farrish as Neilson played for Louisiana in the ECHL during the 2000-2002 seasons when Farrish was head coach of the IceGators. Neilson has also played for Portland in the AHL, Elmira and Quad City in the UHL, Timmendorf Strand EC in Germany and the Canadian National Team.
Neilson played junior hockey at North Bay, Detroit and Barrie in the OHL. He was selected by Edmonton in the third round and number 53 overall in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. He turns 29 years old on August 22 and is from Oromocto, New Brunswick and shoots right.
"We are excited to have Corey back with the Ice Pilots as the la! st two years he has been a key element of our hockey team," said Ice Pilots Head Coach Dave Farrish. "Corey is a dominate defenseman in this league and is a critical piece of our special teams playing the point on the power play. He also has been a big contributor in the community doing a lot of work with the youth hockey in the area."
"It is going to be great playing for the city of Pensacola once again and the best fans in the league. It was a lot of fun playing for the Ice Pilots last season as we had a great team winning a lot of games," said Neilson. "I love the organization. Tim Kerr and Frank Milne have been very good to me and I love playing for Dave. This year the goal is to win in the playoffs and bring home the Kelly Cup."
The Ice Pilots will begin their tenth anniversary season wearing their new colors and logos with their home opener on Saturday, October 22 vs. Mississippi at 7:05 p.m.
Season tickets for the Ice Pilots 2005-2006 season are on sale. Prices for all 36 home games for floor an! d glass seats are $678.96, side seats are $489.60, goal seats and lower upper seats are $443.52 and upper seats cost $356.40.
