Bay Area Panthers News Release

The Panthers continue to retool with the addition of pass rusher Tevaughn Grant.

"His first step is unbelievable," said Head Coach Darren Arbet. "He's a really quick defensive lineman that can cause havoc when a team is trying to pass the football."

After a stint with the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League, Grant will not require multiple layers with the transition to the indoor game.

"Football is football to me. The rules are slightly different so it made the game a little more interesting. I really enjoyed the experience after being in Canada a few times. Playing in the cold wasn't that new to me."

Grant was one of three members of the Wagner front seven to earn All-NEC recognition in 2019. He finished his senior season with career highs in every major defensive category. Making the switch from outside linebacker to defensive end, Grant finished the season with 42 tackles, nine tackles for loss and five sacks.

"I get to the quarterback-people see me as a pass rush specialist. But I stop the run as well," said Grant. "I'll give you everything I've got."

The rebuilding Panthers are raising expectations following the disappointing inaugural season and Grant is excited to be a part of the process.

"Winning is everything. That's what we play for," said Grant. "Whether we won just one game the year before or a bunch of games, winning the championship is the objective."

Grant lives in Newark, New Jersey and works as a physical therapist.

"I like to help people know that the injury they have can't hold them back," said Grant. "You can't let it slow you down as tough as it may be. When you get back, it makes it even more special. "
