Bay Area Panthers News Release

Offensive lineman Mason Denley is on a mission to put his talents on display and win a championship after signing with the Bay Area Panthers.

"I'm going to bring a championship mentality and get my teammates to feed off the flame I approach the game with," said Denley. "That's the case with every play, rehabbing, prehab, everything we do."

Denley comes to the Panthers after playing last season for the Tucson Sugar Skulls.

"He played really well in college at Houston," said Head Coach Darren Arbet. "He's got great feet and great punch for an offensive lineman who can get to the second level on running plays."

Following college, Denley turned down opportunities to play in the XFL and CFL for family and business reasons. But now, he's focused on getting the most out of his playing career.

"I'm three million percent better than I was in college and I was good then," said Denley. "I think my senior season I gave up one sack the whole year. In the IFL, it's 3 on 3 and it gives you a chance to showcase your skills. It's a way to show everybody what I can do. "

Denley went to Houston as a defensive lineman but injuries forced him to switch sides of the ball a week before his first game.

"They just asked me to play O-line so that's what I did," said Denton. "That was the same year (2015) we won the conference and won the Peach Bowl over Florida State."

A relationship with Dixie Wooten in Texas prompted Denton to send video that led to him signing with Tucson to play for Wooten. Wooten is now the offensive coordinator of the Panthers. Denton's also developed an admiration for Assistant Head Coach Rob Keefe, formerly, the defensive coordinator at Northern Arizona.

"I like the way Coach Keefe did things with his team. It will be a good mix. He's down for winning a bunch of championships and so am I."
