Panthers Recall Strachan from Rampage

SUNRSISE, FL. (March 3, 2012) - Florida Panthers Executive Vice President & General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Tyson Strachan from San Antonio (AHL).

Strachan, 27, earns his second recall to Florida this season. He made his Florida Panthers debut on Jan. 24 vs. Philadelphia and registered his first Panthers point, an assist, on Feb. 1 vs. Washington. He scored his first National Hockey League goal on Feb. 12, in Florida's 4-1 victory against the New York Islanders. He has appeared in 12 games for the Panthers this season registering three points (1-2-3) and five PIM.

For his career in the NHL, Strachan has appeared in 79 games with St. Louis (2008-11) and Florida (2012), scoring one goal with eight assists and 87 PIM. He was drafted by Carolina in the fifth round (137th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound blueliner has played in 35 games with San Antonio (AHL) registering 12 points (3-9-12) and 31 PIM this season.

The Rampage host the Houston Aeros tonight for Military Appreciation Night at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center. The team will wear camo-themed jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game to benefit Operation Comfort and the San Antonio Rampage Sled Hockey Team.
