Panthers Call For Two More; Ellerby And Macintyre Join Florida

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Americans Vice President of Hockey Operations Ted Nolan announced today that the Florida Panthers have recalled defenseman Keaton Ellerby and forward Steve MacIntyre. The pair will join the Panthers in Tampa Bay tonight as the team prepares for its National Hockey League contest against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Faceoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. at the St. Pete Times Forum.

Ellerby, 22, receives his third promotion to the big club this season and could potentially make his NHL debut tonight with the Panthers. In 38 American Hockey League games with Rochester this season, the Strathmore, Alberta, native has scored six goals and 10 assists for 16 points, in addition to a plus-seven on-ice rating.

The second-year pro will represent the Canadian All-Stars at the 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic, which will be held January 18th -19th at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland, Maine.

The 6-foot-4, 186-pound blueliner was Florida's first-round selection (10thoverall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

MacIntyre returns to the South Florida for the fourth time this season since being claimed off waivers on November 10th from the Edmonton Oilers. The 6-5, 260-pound rugged forward has played in 13 games with the Amerks this season, recording 28 penalty minutes. A native of Brock, Saskatchewan, MacIntyre has skated in eight games with the Panthers, collecting 10 penalty minutes.

Rochester kicks off its two-game road set on Friday, January 15th as it heads north of the border for a 7:30 p.m. tilt with the Hamilton Bulldogs at Copps Coliseum. Fans can tune in for the live broadcast on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK and FM 107.3, Rochester's Sports Talk. The contest will be the sixth of 10 scheduled meetings this season and the fourth in as many weeks between the divisional foes.
