
Pair of Bucs' Power Play Goals Spoil Musketeers' Home Opener

Sioux City Musketeers News Release
Sioux City, IA - The Sioux City Musketeers unveiled their Clark Cup Championship banner but it was the Des Moines Buccaneers who came away with the win 2-1.
After a scoreless first period Henry Bartle of the Buccaneers struck with a power play goal to give Des Moines a 1-0 lead at the 16:14 mark of the second.
Sioux City answered under two minutes later on a Colin Kessler deflection to tie it 1-1. It was Kessler's first goal of the season and it sent the two teams to the third period tied at one.
Early in the third Des Moines scored their second power play goal of the game. Des Moines Lubomir Kupco scored the game winner for the Bucs and handed them a 2-1 lead.
Des Moines went 2/4 on the power play in the game. Sioux City was 0/2.
Jan Korec (1-0-1) picked up the win for the Buccaneers as he stopped 26 of 27 shots. Axel Mangbo (0-3) was handed the loss making 15 saves across 17 shots.
The Musketeers (0-3) will be back in action on Friday, October 14th with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 pm when they take on the Fargo Force at home at the Tyson Events Center.
