Three Chillicothe Paints' players will be traveling to Washington, PA to take part in the Frontier League All-Star game.
The game, pitting the FL East and West Divisions against each other, is slated for Wednesday, July 13th at Washington's Falconi Field.
Those Paints' players honored were John Martinez, Jose Rodriquez and Beau Blacken. Martinez and Rodriquez were voted to the East Division squad by the media and management pollsters, while Blacken was selected by East Division manager, Jamie Keefe.
Martinez, a right handed pitcher, established a Frontier League record with nine straight victories in as many outings. He has compiled a 1.73 ERA to go along with his perfect 9-0 record and four complete games. Martinez has one shutout to his credit.
Rodriquez will start for the East Division at second base. He is hitting at an impressive .356 clip with 11 doubles, three home runs, 20 runs scored and 15 RBIs.
Blacken, the Paints first baseman, leads his team with a .368 batting average, and he has slammed eight home runs, nine doubles, and collected 35 RBIs. He has also posted a very impressive .576 slugging percentage.
On Tuesday, July 6th, the All-Star Gala will kick off with a celebrity softball game at 6:00 p.m., followed by skills competition among the All-Star players. A concert will be performed by the Povertyneck Hillbillies, a popular country music group, and fireworks will close the evening.
The mid-summer classic, which will be televised live on FOX Sports-Pittsburgh, is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. General admission tickets for the game are still available at $7.00 each. Call (866) 456-WILD for ticket information.
