Tucson Padres News Release

Dean Anna's leadoff home run in the first inning jump-started the Tucson Padres to a 6-1 win over the Salt Lake Bees Monday at Spring Mobile Ballpark. The Padres won the series and have won three games in a row.

On the fifth pitch of the game, Anna hit his fifth home run of the season just inside the right field foul pole to give the Padres an early lead. Anna became the first Tucson player to hit a leadoff home run since Daniel Robertson accomplished the feat on August 2, 2012 in Round Rock.

Jonathan Galvez extended the Padres lead to 2-0 in the top of the fourth with an RBI single. The Bees got on the scoreboard in the fifth inning when Tucson starter Tim Stauffer walked in a run with the bases loaded. James Darnell got one run back in the sixth with an RBI triple to center. Three runs came across for the Padres in the seventh on Robertson's RBI single and Darnell's two-run single. Darnell finished the day 3-for-4 with a double, triple and three RBIs.

Stauffer won his second game of the season for Tucson, allowing only one run in six innings while striking out eight. Relievers Daniel Stange and Brandon Kloess combined to pitch three scoreless innings of relief to seal the victory. Billy Buckner was charged with the loss for Salt Lake. He went six innings and allowed three runs on seven hits.
