Oklahoma City Comets News Release

Oklahoma City - Pitcher Jarred Cosart recorded a team season-high 10 strikeouts to lead the Oklahoma City RedHawks in a 6-1 win against the Pacific Coast League-leading Tacoma Rainiers Tuesday in front of a crowd of 2,652 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Cosart's 10 strikeouts were the most for a RedHawks' pitcher since Rich Harden recorded 10 in an Aug. 18, 2010 game against Reno and tied a career high for Cosart. The combined 14 strikeouts by RedHawks pitchers were also the most for Oklahoma City (19-12) in a game this season.

Tuesday opened a four-game series with Tacoma (21-12) and an eight-game homestand for the RedHawks, who won their eighth-straight home game in downtown Oklahoma City.

Jake Elmore led Oklahoma City offensively, going 3-for-4 with a double and triple. Brett Wallace had a game-high three RBI, including two on a home run in the eighth inning, as he extended his hitting streak to eight games.

Oklahoma City took a 3-0 lead in the third inning. Cody Clark grounded out, scoring Andy Simunic for the first run of the game. Elmore hit a RBI triple to right field to score Clark and Wallace added a RBI single for the 3-0 edge.

Marc Krauss led off the bottom of the fourth inning with his seventh home run of the season for a 4-0 lead. Wallace added a two-run home run in the eighth inning for a 6-0 edge. Tacoma's lone run of the game came on a home run from Carlos Peguero in the top of the ninth inning.

Cosart (4-0) threw 5.2 shutout innings, allowing six hits and walking three in the win. His last game with 10 strikeouts came May 15, 2010 while he pitched for Lakewood BlueClaws.

Tacoma pitcher Jeremy Bonderman (2-3) pitched seven innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and striking out three in the loss.

The RedHawks series against Tacoma continues with an 11:05 a.m. game Wednesday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
