PaddleHeads Fall Just Short in Series Finale

Ogden, UT. - The Missoula PaddleHeads, and Ogden Raptors went into the bottom of the ninth inning with the score tied at 8 runs apiece. Both teams held leads at one point in the game as the two top teams in the Pioneer League fought tooth, and nail. Ninth inning specialist Dazon Cole was called on to pitch the inning but would run into trouble from the start. After allowing a pair of runners to reach on a walk, and hit batsman to load the bases, Cole would sail one to the backstop allowing the winning run to come home as the Raptors escaped with a 9-8 win.

A key inning for Ogden came in the fifth as the Raptors brought four runs home to erase a four-run deficit. Second baseman Raul Shah delivered the big blow in the inning on a two-run double to tie the game at 7. Shah would finish 1- for-4. Ogden would take their first lead of the night in the sixth on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Jakob Goldfarb. It would be the first lead Ogden would have in the three-game series.

The PaddleHeads held the lead over the games first four innings before Ogden would fight back. Jared Akins gave Missoula a four-run advantage in the top of the fifth on a towering shot that cleared the right field wall. Akins would finish 2-for-3. Nick Gatewood also drove in a pair in the first inning on an RBI single and would finish 2-for-4.

Missoula (19-5) is once again tied with the Ogden in the race for the best record in the Pioneer League with the loss. The PaddleHeads will continue this six-game trip on Saturday Night in Idaho Falls for the opening game of a three-game set opposite the Chukars (14-10).
