Billings Mustangs News Release
Billings, MT - Billings Mustangs SS Jordan Hovey has officially signed a Minor League contract with the Kansas City Royals. He becomes the first Mustang player to sign a contract with a major league club this year.
Hovey was off to a blazing start with the Mustangs in 2021. He recorded a hit in all nine games he appeared in and slashed a line of .500/ .614/ .941. By the time he left Billings, he led the team in a number of offensive categories including hits (17), doubles (6), and home runs (3).
The former Creighton Bluejay provided some star moments for fans at Dehler Park in his short time. One of the most memorable ones was a walk-off single in the ninth inning to defeat the Great Falls Voyagers.
Hovey looks to follow the long lineage of big league stars who started their professional careers right here in Billings. The list includes the likes of Trevor Hoffman, Joey Votto, Todd Frazier, and many more!
