Boise Hawks News Release
Idaho Falls, ID - Boise fell behind big in the middle innings, as Idaho Falls put up 11 runs to run away with a 16-7 victory at Melaleuca Field.
Boise Hawks starter Matt Gabbert pitched his way out of two jams in the first two innings, both times stranding runners on the corners.
In the 3rd the Chukars managed to get to Gabbert, after a leadoff walk to Webb Little, Matt Feinstein took a Gabbert fastball over the left field fence to make it 2-0 Chukars.
Idaho Falls would add three more in the fourth before they blew it open with a six run fifth, including Feinstein's second home run, this time a three run blast to the opposite field.
Chukars starter Joe Slocum went unsolved until the sixth inning for Boise.
Bryce Brown led off with a walk, followed by a Myles Miller single, and Roby Enríquez reaching on a throwing error that scored Brown, before Christian Funk pulled an RBI single through the hole on the right side to chase Slocum.
After Yeison Medina got two strikeouts, Kolton Kendrick delivered a two out, two RBI single, and Brown, batting again in the inning, did the same to make the score 6-11.
Boise would never get any closer, as Idaho Falls added two in the bottom of the sixth inning and three in the bottom of the eighth.
That sixth inning included Feinstein's fourth hit of the night, an RBI single that drove home his seventh run of the ballgame.
Friday's game was number 24 of the 2021 season, which marks the halfway point of the first half of the season. Boise currently sits 12 games back of the PBL South leading Ogden Raptors, with a three game series between the two sides beginning on Saturday night.
The Hawks will place Mitch Lines on the mound for the series opener, while Ogden is yet to name their probable starter, first pitch will be at 7:00 P.M. from Lindquist Park.
