UNCASVILLE, Conn. (September 5, 2008) - The Connecticut Sun is encouraging all fans to "Pack The Place Pink" on Sunday, September 7th when the Sun take on the San Antonio Silver Stars at 1 p.m.

Sunday's program is part of a continuing effort from the WNBA and its teams that has raised more than $2 million for breast health awareness. The game, which will be televised nationally on ABC, will feature special programming on the league's breast health initiative and awareness efforts. In addition, the Sun will be wearing specially designed home uniforms with pink trim, while all coaches will be wearing pink ties or scarves and the referees will use pink whistles.

As part of the festivities based around raising awareness of breast health research and education efforts, which will run throughout the week at WNBA games and venues, the WNBA Breast Health Auction will launch on WNBA.com. All proceeds from the items auctioned, which include Sunday's game worn jerseys and autographed WNBA Breast Health Awareness basketballs, will benefit the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund.

The Sun will also continue their partnership with Backus Hospital in Norwich, and their group of breast cancer survivors, on Sunday.

"We see this opportunity to participate in a second "Pack the Place Pink" event of the season as a key part of our continued commitment to the community as well as an opportunity to educate the masses about the importance of correct breast health and to celebrate breast cancer survivors."
