Pacan Keeps up Torrid Scoring Pace as Beast Down Railers

November 25, 2018 - ECHL (ECHL)
Brampton Beast News Release

BRAMPTON, ONTARIO - David Pacan and Brandon Marino both had three points as the Brampton Beast rolled past the Worcester Railers on Sunday afternoon.

For the first time in 2018-19, the Brampton Beast took on their divisional rival, the Worcester Railers. It was Wands and Wizards at the CAA Centre, so there was plenty of magic on and off the ice.

The first period saw the Beast have the best chances but the goaltending of Worcester's Mitch Gilliam proved to be a difference maker.

Boston Leier was making his Beast debut and wanted to endear himself to his new teammates. The forward would end of dropping the gloves with Railers defenseman Mike Cornell in a brief yet spirited tilt that saw both men head to the box for five minutes.

Both teams would retire to their locker rooms knotted up 0-0 after 20 minutes of play. Shots on goal were 11-7 in favour of the home squad.

The second period would go much the same way as the first, as both clubs dueled each other into a scoreless frame. Brampton had some dangerous chances, but Gilliam stood tall in the opposition's net.

It was scoreless after two, with the Beast having a slight edge in shots to the tune of 21-19.

Brampton broke the game wide open in the third with a goal from David Pacan. Brandon Marino was able to set-up the big centre with a perfect pass that Pacan sent home at 3:05.

The Beast continued their assault with a goal from Boston Leier. The Saskatoon native buried a rebound that was left in front by David Pacan. He gave the Beast a 2-0 lead at 8:43.

Worcester made it interesting late, as they were able to find twine behind Beast goaltender Etienne Marcoux. The shot from the point by Tyler Mueller broke the shutout bid at 18:59.

With the Beast nursing a one-goal lead later in the third, Pacan once again took control and was able to ice the game with an empty net goal, his second of the game.

Marcoux would make 24 saves and record his fifth win of the 2018-19 campaign.

Notes: Molson Three Stars: 3) Leier (BRA) 2) Marcoux (BRA) 1) Pacan (BRA) The Beast and Railers finished the contest by going a combined zero-for-five on the man advantage. Brampton and Worcester will next play on Tuesday, November 27th for the first School Day Game of the year. Puck drops at 11:00 AM.
