Woodbridge, VA - On Friday, July 19th, 2013 at Pfitzner Stadium, the Potomac Nationals hosted a sprawling sports memorabilia silent auction to benefit victims of the Oklahoma tornadoes that hit the towns of Shawnee and Moore on May 19th and 20th of this year. These twisters caused widespread damage in the Sooner State and many fellow Americans in Oklahoma lost more than just property as many lives were claimed in this calamity.

In response to this tragedy, the Potomac Nationals organized a diverse concourse sports auction featuring items from around the Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball landscape including memorabilia from other professional sports to support those affected by this torrential disaster and allow the P-Nats faithful to pitch in and help.

The sports auction's proceeds are going directly to benefit the "OK Strong Disaster Relief Fund," in conjunction with the United Way of Central Oklahoma.

All proceeds from the 7/19 P-Nats Sports Memorabilia Silent Auction have now been calculated.

Nationals fans stepped up the plate in a big way and fundraised $2,383 through the silent auction bidding process for notable items such as an Oklahoma City Thunder Team Signed basketball (NBA), an Adam LaRoche (Washington Nationals) autographed bat, an Anthony Rendon (Nationals) inscribed baseball, a Trevor Ariza (Washington Wizards) signed photo, a Brian Orakpo (Washington Redskins) autographed mini helmet, and two (2) Carolina League All-Star Team Signed Baseballs.

Nationals Team Spokesman, Bryan Holland said, "On behalf of the Potomac Nationals front office, we were deeply affected by the somber news of the Oklahoma tornadoes back in May which impacted the lives of so many people in the Sooner State."

"We are very thankful to have such a compassionate P-Nats fan base in Northern Virginia that is willing to help our neighbors in the South Central United States in their great time of need."

"This contribution from our great fans will certainly supplement the outpouring of aid coming from around the country and the Potomac Nationals Baseball Club sends plenty of well wishes to those Oklahoma citizens who were impacted by this disaster as they continue their recovery effort."
