(WILMINGTON, DE) Fresh off a series victory over the Winston Salem Dash, the Potomac Nationals rode a wave of momentum to an early lead in the opener in Wilmington. One swing of the bat changed everything and was the catalyst in a 4-3 Wilmington victory.

A.J. Morris dealt through four innings, the offense cashed in on a defensive miscue, and Potomac led 2-0. But a line shot off the left calf of Morris ended the righthander's night, and things unraveled from there. Three runs came in to score in that inning off Patrick McCoy, and then a fourth in the seventh.

Potomac answered with a third run in the seventh to trim the lead to one, but Barry Bowden pitched a perfect two innings to earn his sixth save and lock up the Blue Rocks' victory. The result brought Wilmington into a three-way tie with Potomac and Lynchburg for second place in the Carolina League's Northern Division, three back of the Frederick Keys.

Rocks' starter Chris Dwyer faced the minimum through three innings and struck out three before creating a jam for himself in the fourth. After a pair of one-out walks, Jason Taylor booted a Tyler Moore grounder to score the first run. On the next pitch, Robbie Jacobsen smoked a ball to left field to tie the game.

After McCoy's troubles in the fifth and sixth, the Nats rallied in the seventh. After a two-out bunt single by Jose Lozada, Steve Lombardozzi won an eight-pitch battle with Buddy Baumann with an RBI single to center.

But Bowden made sure that would be the last offense for the P-Nats.

Potomac will look to Pat Lehman to even the series Friday at 7:05 P.M. The broadcast can be heard beginning at 6:50.

The Nats return home for a three-game set with the Keys starting Monday. Join the Party by calling 703-590-2311.
