Augusta Lynx News Release

Augusta, GA - Augusta Lynx defenseman Jason Platt has been loaned to the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League, the team announced today.

The 25-year-old Platt spent just two games in Augusta, scoring a power play goal against South Carolina this past Saturday. Platt has a total of 105 games of AHL experience, spending all of last season with the Iowa Stars where he notched five assists in 60 games. This is Platt's first tour of duty with Providence.

Also, it was announced earlier this week that the Lynx have dealt defenseman Phil Cole to the Victoria Salmon Kings for future considerations. Cole, 24, had played in two games for Augusta, notching one assist. Originally drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the fourth round of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Cole has split part of his four pro seasons between the ECHL and AHL. Most recently the 6-4, 197 lb. blueliner appeared in 10 games with the AHL's Philadelphia Phantoms in 2005-06 without a point and 20 minutes in penalties.

The Lynx take to the road this weekend for a pair of games in Pensacola against the Ice Pilots. Friday night's contest starts at 8:05 pm, and Saturday night the game will commence at 8:35 pm. The Classic Stucco and Stone Pre-Game Show hits the airwaves one half-hour before faceoff on your Home for Lynx Hockey, NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630.
