'Blades add two to roster; make other changes

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Gerry Fleming announced today that forward Brad Zancanaro and defenseman Chris Dyment have been added to the roster from the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League.

Zancanaro (pronounced ZHAN-can-AHR-oh) comes to the Everblades after skating in seven games with the River Rats this season. The 24-year-old did not score a point and collected four penalty minutes in his time with Albany to begin the 2006-07 campaign. The Trenton, Michigan native is in his second professional season after debuting at the pro ranks last year by playing in eight games with the Lowell Lock Monsters of the AHL. Zancanaro tallied his first two professional goals in his eighth game with Lowell on April 16. Prior to joining the pro ranks, Zancanaro played four seasons at the collegiate level with Boston University. In his four-year career with the Terriers he tallied 90 points (34g, 56a) in 161 games.

Dyment joins the Everblades after playing in six games with the River Rats this season. The Reading, Massachusetts native is in his fifth professional season and joins the Everblades roster having scored 25 points (10g, 15a) in 162 career games, all in the AHL. The 27-year-old spent the previous two seasons with the Providence Bruins, scoring 11 points in 32 games in 2005-06 and notching seven points in 48 games during the 2004-05 season. The former 5th round draft pick by the Montreal Canadiens in 1999 split the 2003-04 season between Houston and Springfield combining to tally one goal and one assist. Dyment made his professional debut in 2002-03 with Houston and picked up three points (2g, 3a) in 40 regular season games, and chipped in one assist in 17 playoff games while helping the Aeros the Calder Cup Championship. Prior to turning pro Dyment spent four years at Boston University and amassed 72 points (20g, 52a) in 142 career games with the Terriers.

In addition, the Everblades made changes to their injured reserve list today. Forward Dustin Johner was activated from the 7-day IR and defenseman Ryan Brindley was moved from the 3-day IR to the 7-day IR. Forward Reggie Berg was placed on the 3-day IR. As per team policy the injuries were not disclosed.

The Florida Everblades, proud affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes and the Florida Panthers, take to the road for the first time in 2006-07 when they travel to Cincinnati for the first of a four-game road trip at 7:35 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1. The Everblades' next home game is Friday, November 10 vs. the Columbia Inferno.
