Northern Colorado Owlz News Release
Four pitchers combined on the Owlz first shutout since Sept 2, 2010 to help the Owlz knock off the Osprey 6-0 on Monday evening.
The offense led the way in Sunday night's game, so it is fitting that the pitching help out of the offense en route to the Owlz 13th win of the season. Pat Lowery, Garrett Baker, Michael Roth and Robbie Powell combined on the first shutout since Orem beat Casper 1-0 on September 2, 2010.
Lowery started Monday's game, throwing 3.1 shutout innings. He loaded the bases with one out in the 4th, but Baker came in and struck out Justin Bianco and John Leonard to keep the shutout in tact.
Baker picked up the win, going 2.2 innings, surrendering just one hit, while striking out four. Roth made his first appearance out of the bullpen for the Owlz and fired two scoreless innings, striking out two. Powell pitched a perfect 9th, picking up a strikeout.
Orem struck early against Missoula's starter Karl Triana. Orem scored three runs in the 1st on a RBI single by Michael Snyder, a RBI double by Caleb Bushyhead and an error that allowed Kyle Johnson to score with the bases loaded. Bushyhead finished 2-for-4 with two doubles.
The Owlz added two more in the second frame on a 2-run blast by Michael Snyder. Snyder connected for his third home run in two games to give the Owlz pitching staff plenty of runs to work with. Snyder is now 6-for-9 with four runs and eight RBIs in his last two games.
Orem's pitching staff has now thrown 12 straight scoreless innings, and Orem has won two games in a row. The Owlz will look for the series victory on Tuesday evening at 7:15 p.m.
