The Orem Owlz offense continued to struggle, mustering only four hits for the third night in a row, as they dropped the rubber match of a three game series to the Casper Rockies 6-3.

The Casper bats jumped all over starter Trevor Bell pounding out three home runs, doubling the total he had surrendered over his previous seven starts. Bell had also only given up eleven runs on the season coming into the night; however, he was charged with all six of Casper's runs, dropping his first decision of the year. Casper took an early lead with solo home runs by Logan Wiens and Jorge Sandes in the second and third innings respectively. For Sandes, it was his second homer in as many nights. The score remained the same until the 6th inning when the Rockies scored four runs to break the game open. After scoring one run on a seeing-eye single by Austin Rauch, second baseman Derek Kinzler delivered the big blow with a three run shot over the right field wall. The Owlz tried to rally in the ninth as left fielder Chris Pettit led off the frame with a double to right. Following a strike out, three walks, a wild pitch and a balk, the bases were loaded with one out and the tying run at first with the Owlz trailing 6-3. However, Darrel Sales struck out swinging followed by a groundout by pinch-hitter Scott Knazek to end the game. Pettit was the lone bright spot for the Owlz as he also had another double in the sixth that produced the first two runs for the home squad.

"I saw the ball well tonight, but it is tough to enjoy it when the team loses," Pettit said.

The two RBI night kept Pettit atop the team lead in that category, driving in his twenty-second and twenty-third runs of the season.

With the loss, the Owlz drop to 21-15, one game behind Idaho Falls. Casper, meanwhile, improves to 15-21. The Chukars now come to town for a crucial series beginning tomorrow at 7:05. The Owlz must win the next two games to secure a 1st half title. Should Idaho Falls win just one of the two, they will clinch the playoff spot.
