Northern Colorado Owlz News Release

MISSOULA- The Orem Owlz (34-22) saw yet again another ninth inning rally come up just short, as the Missoula Osprey (34-21) were able to keep a runner stranded on second base as the third and final out came on a strikeout to secure yet another win for Missoula, defeating the Owlz in back to back nights, and dropping them to a three game losing streak in a 3-2 win loss for Orem.

The night started off rocky for the starting pitch Jose Rodriguez on the mound, after striking out two of the three batters he saw in the first, the second inning was nothing like the first. The first batter of the inning was Matt Railey who saw a fast ball that he liked and he smoked it out of the park for the first run of the game. The Osprey's weren't done after that. After Matt Jones was walked, Francis Christy was up next and he sent the second ball out of the park to put the home team in front 3-0.

Despite scoring three runs in the second inning, the Owlz held the Osprey scoreless the rest of the way. In the fifth inning the Owlz were able to cut the gap on the scoreboard to one run as Jordan Serena and Juan Moreno both crossed home plate, but those two runs were all the Owlz could mustard up in Game 2 of the four game series.

Michael Pierson led the way with three hits on the night, which included two singles and a double. Brendon Sanger and Moreno both had two hits in the contest to help the Owlz as a team put up 10 hits on the board.

Rodriguez received the loss pitching four innings and three runs crossing the plate during his time on the mound.

Tomorrow night the Owlz will look to bounce back from the three game losing skid in Montana. Action can be heard live on audio.oremowlz.com.
