Northern Colorado Owlz News Release

Orem put men in scoring position in seven different innings, but could not come through in a couple big situations, falling 5-4 on Tuesday night at the Home of the Owlz.

The Owlz had a golden opportunity to take the lead in the 8th when Michael Snyder walked to start the inning and was pinch-run for by Joel Capote. Capote advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Caleb Bushyhead. Chevy Clarke singled and advanced to second on a throw home, which put men at 2nd and 3rd with one out. However, Jose Rondon struck out swinging and Sherman Johnson flied out to the warning track to end the inning.

Orem got on the board first in the bottom of the 1st inning on a RBI double by Wade Hinkle that brought home Kyle Johnson. Ogden answered back in the top of the 2nd after three straight singles by Devin Shines, Bladimir Franco and Malcolm Holland.

The Owlz regained the lead in the 3rd inning thanks to some timely base hits. Sherman Johnson doubled to start the inning and came home on a double by Jonathan Walsh. Michael Snyder singled home Hinkle and Caleb Bushyhead's sacrifice fly scored Snyder.

The game got closer in the 4th inning after Ogden got two runs on a Holland RBI single, his second of the game, and a double steal from Holland and Franco that allowed Franco to steal home for the Raptors third run.

Gabriel Perez gave the Owlz a quality start going six innings and allowing three runs on six hits, one walk and two hit batters. Christopher O'Grady walked two in the 7th, but got Eric Smith to pop into a double play to end the Raptors threat. However, O'Grady was not as lucky in the 8th inning. He loaded the bases on two hits and a walk to start the frame, prompting Robbie Powell to enter the game. Powell got a ground ball and a fly ball, but two runs scored on the outs.

Orem finishes its home schedule 18-18 and now heads to Idaho Falls for the final two games of the season. You can listen to all the action online at audio.oremowlz.com.
