Great Falls Voyagers News Release

GREAT FALLS - The Great Falls Voyagers (38-36, 14-22) couldn't get the big hit tonight as the fell 3-1 to the Missoula Osprey (39-35, 21-15) Tuesday night at Centene Stadium. The game was the final regular season home game of the year for the playoff-bound Voyagers.

As happened in five of the six games of the homestand, the Voyagers allowed a run in the first when an error on a pickoff attempt advanced speedy Pedro Ruiz from first to third before he came across on an RBI groundout. The unearned run was all starter JC Casey allowed as he finished five innings with four strikeouts. Casey left in a tie as a Missoula error in the second gave the Osprey run back. Brent Tanner doubled and scored on the two-out miscue to tie the game at 1-1.

Cal Bowling (1-1) entered in the sixth and allowed a leadoff walk to come around and score on Alex Glenn's RBI triple, and the Voyagers couldn't come back against Yoimer Camacho (4-5) and the Osprey. Jared Ray helped with a scoreless inning in his first relief appearance of the year and the Voyagers couldn't convert in two big opportunities against Patrick Smith. Down by one in the eighth and two in the ninth, the Voyagers had multiple runners on with one and no outs respectively and failed to score a single run. In total, the Voyagers left 12 on in the game. Smith recorded the final two outs of the final two innings on four strikeouts, thus finishing a 14 K night for Osprey pitchers.

The Voyagers head to Helena for their final two games of the regular season beginning Wednesday night. Starting at 7:05 PM, it will be their last two looks at Helena in 2012 before the head to Billings or Missoula to play the winner of their season-ending matchup in game one of the Pioneer League Playoffs.
