Northern Colorado Owlz News Release

Orem received a fantastic pitching performance from three hurlers, holding Great Falls to one run on just four hits Monday evening at Centene Field in Montana.

With the 5-1 win, the Owlz brought their season-long five game losing streak to a halt.

Jeremy Haynes threw five solid innings for the Owlz, picking up his second win of the season while surrendering just three hits.

"I had good command of my pitches tonight," Haynes said following the performance. "I've struggled some with my control this season but tonight was a different story. I was relaxed."

Great Falls got their only run of the game off of Haynes in the second to grab an early 1-0 lead.

However, Ryan Mount responded with his eighth homer of the season in the third, a solo shot to tie the game at 1-1.

Then, the very next inning, Scott Knazek laced a 3-2 pitch from White Sox hurler Clevelan Santilez over the left field wall with Abel Nieves and Tadd Brewer aboard to give the Owlz a 4-1 advantage.

"I was looking for a fastball in the zone because I knew he (Santilez) didn't want to walk the bases loaded," Knazek said.

Orem would get their fifth and final run on a sacrifice fly from Brewer, scoring Tyler Johnson.

In relief of Haynes, Jared Incinelli and Barret Browning each threw two scoreless innings to close the door on the home team.

Incinelli gave up just one hit and struck out two in the sixth and seventh. Browning no hit the White Sox in the final two innings. He also struck out two batters.

The Owlz improve to 36-24 overall, 13-9 in the second half. Great Falls, meanwhile, continues to struggle. They are now 6-17 on the second half - a full eleven games back of Billings in the northern division.

The rubber game of the series between the two teams is tomorrow night at 7:05 P.M.
