Northern Colorado Owlz News Release

For the third straight night, the Owlz got the scoring started, bringing home two runs in the top of the 1st on a RBI double by Michael Snyder and a RBI single by Michael Bolaski. Snyder has a double in four consecutive games.

Orem added three more in the top of the 3rd on a 3-run home run by Jarrod Parks, his second in as many nights. Grand Junction came back with three of their own in the bottom of the 3rd off of Mark Sappington. Cesar Galvez and Jason Stolz each had RBI singles in the frame. The Rockies added one more in the bottom of the 4th to cut the Owlz lead to one.

In the top of the 5th inning, Sam Mulroy beat out a ground ball to bring home Bolaski and give the Owlz a 6-4 lead. Nataniel Rodriguez allowed one run in the bottom of the 5th, but limited the damage after the first two batters reached base. Rodriguez picked up the win, improving to 1-0.

The Owlz had a golden chance to put the game away in the 6th, loading the bases with nobody out and one run already home, but Snyder, Bolaski and Andrew Ray all got out to end the inning.

Shane Riedie took over in the 6th inning, firing a shutout inning, before allowing one run in the 7th. He left the game with a runner on base, but Brandon Efferson came in and got back-to-back strikeouts to end the Rockies threat. Efferson hurled a 1-2-3 8th inning and a 1-2-3 9th inning to pick up his first save.

The Owlz stole five bases in the contest, and are now 9-9 in stolen bases tries. Caleb Bushyhead had a career night, going 3-for-3 and reaching base all five times he appeared at the plate.

Orem will head home to take on the Idaho Falls Chukars for two games. There will be a Papa Murphy's Pizza Pack Night on Thursday night. On Friday, a baseball will be given away with 2011 Owlz C.J. Cron, Kaleb Cowart and Taylor Lindsey featured on the ball.
